Katie brought me breakfast in bed one day last week. A cold Coke (Daddy may have helped) and the last chocolate chip cookie. I tried to refuse the cookie, but she had "saved it for Mama." I tried to share it with her. "No, it's for you, Mama." Finally, I convinced her to crawl in bed with me, and we broke the cookie in two and shared an early morning cookie snack.
So far, my nefarious plan to keep her at home is working.

From Katie's Brain....
This past weekend we visited a friend in Southern Oregon. We dipped down into Northern California to visit the Redwoods. As we toured the park, we kept an eye out for the delicious banana slugs.
There was a lot of foot traffic in the park that day, especially families with young children. Katie ran up to a young girl, maybe 7, who was taking a picture of one of the giant trees. Kate runs up and jumps in front of her camera, yells "BANANA SLUG!" and runs away again. Poor bewildered girl looks around, as if she were thinking, "What the heck just happened?"
I'm back!
Hey, blog. I'm back. I haven't forgotten about you. I just needed some space. It's not you. It was me. But hey! I'm finally back into a part of my life and my head that I want to share. I know, you can't wait. :)

Bringing home a baby bumblebee...
We are slowly (thanks to Angie) figuring out something about Katie's learning style. When introduced to a new concept, she will vehemently protest that she can't do it. Then, the next day, she'll do it very well. She seems to really need that down time to process her learning.

The practice of the letter b was like that. She did them all buy herself!

Johnny Appleseed...
He was quite a guy,
A hero guaranteed!
And as American...
As apple pie!
It's weird what you remember from elementary school. That was a song from our second grade play. RAM = Random Access Memory

Katie learned about Johnny Appleseed at preschool. She's wearing a Johnny Appleseed hat. They also made apple on a drink lid with tissue paper and small twigs. So cute! And when I got there to pick her up, all the apples were hanging in an "apple" tree!
